Pan Fried Sweet Peaches With Cinnamon make a warm, buttery dessert that comes together in about ten minutes.
Cooking the fruit cut-side down creates deep caramelization, drawing out natural juices that mix with melted butter and spice to form an instant, glossy pan sauce.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 8 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 ripe but firm peaches, halved and pitted
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch coarse sea salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
Melt the butter in a wide cast-iron or heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat until foamy.
Whisk in the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until the sugar begins to dissolve into the butter.
Place the peach halves cut-side down into the hot skillet. Cook undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes, allowing the cut faces to turn golden brown and slightly crisp along the edges.
Flip the peaches carefully with tongs. Cook on the skin side for another 2 to 3 minutes until tender enough to pierce easily with a fork, but not mushy.
Take the skillet off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using. Spoon the accumulated spiced buttery syrup directly from the pan over the tops and into the hollows of the peaches before serving warm with vanilla ice cream, mascarpone, or Greek yogurt.
